Angelica presented results a meta-GWAS of the age at first learning to walk. Anna and Anja both presented posters about the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gel.bbk.ac.uk\/research\/the-gems-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GEMS project<\/a>. Anna showed results from a GWAS of fine motor skills, and Anja showed first-look results from a GWAS of infant temperament.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"886\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gel.bbk.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-09-14-at-8.27.52-PM-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-886\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"888\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gel.bbk.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-09-20-at-1.07.31-PM-1-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-888\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>GEL lab member Laura Havers passed her viva <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Laura had her viva on 8<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;September and passed with no corrections. Many congratulations Laura!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main focus of Laura\u2019s PhD was to look at the development of paranoia, hallucinations (psychotic experiences) and negative symptoms from adolescence to emerging adulthood in the community.&nbsp;Her main findings were that when analysed as separate dimensions, paranoia, hallucinations, and negative symptoms were characterised by distinctive trajectories, and showed broad as well as dimension-specific polygenic and phenotypic correlates<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Check out her&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/schizbullopen\/article\/3\/1\/sgac009\/6504014?login=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">paper on negative symptoms<\/a>, and her&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/psyarxiv.com\/a4guk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">paper on developmental trajectories<\/a>&nbsp;which is in press<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>GEL lab member Chloe Austerberry has submitted her thesis<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chloe submitted her thesis earlier this year, titled&nbsp;&#8216;Using Genetically Informative Family Data to Examine the Early Development of Complex Traits&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chloe recently published a systematic review and meta-analysis of twin studies of developmental milestones and skills \u2013 you can read it&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jamanetworkopen\/article-abstract\/2795492\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The GEL lab go to WCPG 2022 in Florence In September, the GEL lab went to the World Congress for Psychiatric Genetics conference in Florence.
